Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Hong Kong is looking for a talent with a strong background in managing events and a desire to further the organisation’s aims to fill the following position based in Hong Kong:
 
Communications Officer (Events)
 
Reporting directly to Communications Manager (HK & Regional Events), incumbent of the position will plan and organize MSF public events in Hong Kong and the region, including awareness raising and fundraising events, enhance the understanding of the organization’s work and generate engagement with it and support for it.  The major responsibilities are:
 
  • Ensure a smooth production of public events.
  • Lead and involved in cross-departmental Working Group(s) in specific event organisation, when necessary, and to make sure those events are organised in the framework of MSF’s strategy
  • Work closely with the teams in the region to develop events for specific objectives of the region
  • Organize trademark fundraising public events to achieve the maximum fundraising and awareness raising results holistically
  • Ensure public events are being well promoted to optimize publicity within limited budget
  • Supervise and handle the relevant human resources management of event assistant(s) and/or freelancer(s) and event volunteers of specific public events
  • Assist in ensuring that proper resources (human and finance) are allocated in the organisation of different events throughout the year
  • Provide support and mentoring to events staff in the region, as advised by supervisor(s)
 
The Ideal Candidate
  • University graduate with a minimum of 3 years’ solid work experience in the field of event management, public communications or marketing
  • Relevant experience in the execution of large scale public events and project coordination, and sound knowledge in the necessary administrative procedures in the organization of public events
  • Competence in working with advertising agency, design houses and contractors, and with resourceful connections with events-related partners and service vendors 
  • Knowledge in digital marketing will be an advantage
  • Fluency in both spoken and written English and Chinese  
  • Willing to travel and work with teammates and contractors/ vendors outside Hong Kong
  • Creative, detail-oriented with strong multitasking and organisational skills
  • Sound negotiating and presentation skill
  • Excellent team spirit with ability to work independently
  • Ability to work under pressure and to respect deadlines
  • Strong interest in world affairs
  • Clear commitment to the aims and values of Médecins Sans Frontières
